SHORT MAT RESULTS 2012/13

Connaught’s 2012/2013 season again is a similar programme to recent years.

The club's ability to provide a full competitive playing programme, including a Thursday/Friday evening triples league and a Tuesday afternoon triples league, is a major differentiator. Together with the roll-up sessions on Monday and Wednesday afternoons

Some members perhaps do not appreciate how lucky they are compared with clubs playing in village halls. Connaught's mats are down all the time and the caretaker ensures they are always clean and free from dust. Perhaps the only problem on the horizon is likely pressure on mat space. The club badly needs three or four mats but simply does not have the space to accommodate them

The club has entered the same league and cup competitions as before. Its main focus continues to be the local Breckland League, which is very well run and has a variety of competitions and in which Connaught always field two sides.

Sylvia Parsons takes over the captaincy of Connaught 'A' in the Breckland League

Peter Hambling takes over as captain of Connaught 'B' in the Breckland League

Alison Rush is the new captain of the South Norfolk League side.

Bob Oatway continues as captain of the Tens League side. He again has a small squad The Tens League as ever will be very competitive but Connaught still have the ammunition to do reasonably well. Compared with the Breckland and South Norfolk sides, the Tens side in recent seasons has become almost totally a home mats outfit and at least must try to reduce the scale of the away defeats. Mid-table will be good.

Connaught continues to support the county organisation, with Bob Oatway Assistant Competition Organiser and Vice President. Bob, Elaine, Sheila, Ty, Chris are expected to be available regularly for county matches.
